Dani Alves rejects the club's offer for a new contract

The player is unhappy over the length of the new contract

Dani Alves' agent, Dinorah Santa Ana (who is also his ex-wife), held a press conference on Thursday to clarify the player's position in the negotiations for a possible new deal with FC Barcelona.

She started by reminding everyone just how successfull Alves has been at the club: Four La Ligas, two Champions Leagues, two Spanish cups, second most games at the club for a non-Spaniard.

Then she moved on to the negotiations which started after the last Clásico: "Barça offered up three years in the form of one year, plus one, plus one. And we said no. We wanted three years, but they said no. Then we suggested two, plus one with the condition that he would get the final year if he played 70 percent of games in the second season. They said no, again."

"This morning I received an offer by e-mail. Barça said three years if the player plays at least 60 percent each season, if he doesn't, it won't continue year-on-year. That for me is not three years. It is one year," she added.

Dinorah also made it clear that Luis Enrique does want the player to get a new contract, but that right now the negotiations are closed if that was the club's final offer. "If they offer us two years, plus an optional third, Dani would stay," she said. "But he is more out than in at the moment because I don't think they will change their offer."

"Dani is sad because he thought that we would reach an agreement," the agent said.

Dinorah confirmed that Alves has offers of three years plus one optional from two European clubs, but PSG is not one of them.
