Marc-Andre ter Stegen (7): Picked up another clean sheet as I’m sure we’re all used to seeing this season. He was involved a lot throughout the game but not in terms of saves but rather touches and passes. Eibar pressed high causing us to use the German more than we usually do. He didn’t fail us on the ball. Saves wise he was relatively untroubled.

Sergi Roberto (5.5): Played well early on going forward, his sprints helped break Eibar’s press a few times. However, he never got in behind Eibar’s defence and didn’t attempt a single cross in the entire game. Had trouble defending at times, Inui created problems for him all game long. Passing was fine but didn’t create a single chance. Subbed off in the 89th minute.

Gerard Piqué (7): Strong performance for the most part. Eibar pressed high, created problems all game long and he had a lot to do at the back. Managed 14 clearances in the game, found himself in the right place at the right time quite often. Passing was fine considering how intense Eibar’s pressing was and he found himself under a lot of pressure. The only weak part of his performance were 1 on 1 duels where he got beaten easily a couple of times.

Samuel Umtiti (6): An average game for him. All throughout the game he looked shaky but with good moments here and there. His passing wasn’t bad but he was rushed a lot more than he would’ve liked. Eibar robbed him close to his box but luckily nothing came of it. He played a lot closer to his box than he is used to and it showed as he didn’t look too comfortable being so deep.

Jordi Alba (6): Much like Umtiti he wasn’t too good. The whole defence was very deep and it didn’t suit them at all. Multiple times he was caught offside during the game though one was wrongly called offside. Although he scored the goal to put the game to bed he wasn’t very influential as he usually is on the left but it must be said as Eibar tired and went down a man, he started looking better.

Sergio Busquets (6.5): A strange game for him given the fact he couldn’t play the way he usually does, Eibar pressed high all game long and Barça couldn’t control the game from midfield, therefore he couldn’t impact the game on the ball and misplaced more passes than usual. He was still involved in Barça’s 1st goal, however. Defensively, he had a near perfect game. Won all of his duels, managed 7 tackles without committing a single foul in the entire game.

Ivan Rakitić (5): A game to forget for him. Very poor on the ball, especially in the 1st half. He also got dispossessed quite a lot under pressure which has always been a problem for him. The only good thing about his performance was his work defensively at times, he helped Sergi on that right side.

Andres Iniesta (6): Didn’t have the best of games like a lot of the team. He couldn’t influence it as much as he wanted. Barcelona struggled to hold the ball for long periods making it difficult for him to have much influence on the game. Normally he links a lot of play but it wasn’t the case, Eibar managed him well. He was subbed off for Coutinho with 30 mins left.

Paulinho (4): Woeful. For around 60 minutes of the game he was completely anonymous. It was as if we started the game with 10 men. He offered very little help in all phases of the pitch. He had a chance midway in the second half to finish the game off but butchered the play as usual. Our worst performer and it’s not unlike him to play badly and score but he didn’t get on the scoresheet against Eibar.

Lionel Messi (7): Started well, it seemed like he created a chance whenever he was on the ball. Some of his passes in the 1st half, including his assists to Suárez for Barça’s 1st goal were mind-blowing. He found himself in quite a few chances himself but finishing was off. The best chance came in the 1st half when he hit the post after a good team move. His influence dropped a bit later on as Barça struggled on the ball in the 2nd half, but he still created 2 great chances for.his teammates and was involved in the 2nd goal.

Luis Suárez (6.5): Had a great chance to open the scoring early on, but he decided to try and get past the goalkeeper who forced him wide and he had to settle for a pass to Alba instead shooting. It didn’t take him long to redeem himself, however. Another brilliant pass from Messi and this time he got past the goalkeeper and finished with ease. Great movement on the goal. That was his only chance on target, he was quite isolated in the 2nd half as Barça struggled to control the game. He managed 2 key passes.

Philippe Coutinho: Replaced Iniesta with 30 minutes left and he was really good. He should’ve got 2 assists but Messi was unable to convert. He did have some quiet patches in the 30 minutes but generally his sub had a positive impact on the team, we looked better going forward.

Aleix Vidal: Came on for Paulinho with 15 minutes left. It was nearly impossible for him to do any worse than the Brazilian. He actually got into some good positions. He had a chance to score but it was a good save from the GK but truth be told, he should’ve scored. Other than this, his cameo was rather quiet.

Nélson Semedo: Subbed on for Sergi with a minute left in the game. Played 3 simple passes as everyone was waiting for the final whistle at this point. Let’s hope he gets more playing time in the final stretch of the season.
