Reactions after Getafe
Luis Enrique: "With this efficacy, it’s hard to stop the team"
Getafe’s goalkeeper, Vicente Guaita, could only shake his head as the torrent of great goals kept coming. Not even the penalty, the first of the six goals of the night, was an orthodox one since Messi converted it Panenka-style.
“This is another day to congratulate the squad”, said Luis Enrique after the match, “when they reach this level of effectiveness, it’s very difficult to stop them”.
Luis Enrique especially praised the attacking triad of Lionel Messi, Neymar da Silva and Luis Suárez: “They have been nearly unstoppable, with good pressure and with goals fine-tuned to the posts”.
The coach also praised the trio’s defensive efforts: “They are so coherent that they know we need their offensive and defensive efforts in order to succeed”.
The Asturian expects the team to get better in all the aspects of the game: “Without a doubt we still have an improvement margin, but regarding the effectiveness I have never witnessed so many spectacular and beautifully made goals. It has been the day that they have been most inspired".
Claudio Bravo, who against Getafe completed his 20th clean sheet of the season to match Víctor Valdés’ record, sympathized with fellow goalkeeper Guaita: “I suffered as much when I played here with Real Sociedad and it’s not easy to cope with something like that, but it helps you for the future”, the Chilean said. “We overwhelmed them from the start and everything worked out well".
With four rounds left to be played and Barça holding a two-point lead with a superb trinity of strikers, who last night reached an astounding 102 goals this season, the players are upbeat going into the Champions League semifinal against Bayern Munich.
“There is maximum commitment in the squad, the fans and the technical staff”, Luis Suárez said.
The next test for Barcelona is the visit to Córdoba at the Nuevo Arcángel, where they will look to consolidate their chances for the La Liga title.
