Two La Masia players suspended by FIFA allowed to play football again

Ilaix and Haitam Abaida will be featuring in a match at the training center today

FC Barcelona received yesterday the first of several positive announcements they expect from FIFA and the Spanish Federation in the upcoming days. Ilaix and Haitam Abaida, two of the eleven players who had been suspended as part of FIFA’s second investigation of underage players born in foreign countries playing for La Masia, have been allowed to return to football. And their first game back will be a match which had been postponed against Jabac, which will be played this afternoon at the training center.

One month ago, after being forced to release some of the players who had already been suspended by FIFA – Jang (Korea), Patrice Sousia (Cameroon), Ben Lederman (USA), Matías Lacava (Venezuela) and Fede Fofana (Netherlands) – Barça was asked by FIFA to send over the paperwork about the signings of other eleven academy players, eight from Football 11 (Fútbol 11) and three from Football 7 (Fútbol 7), to verify if they had been legally transferred to the Catalan club. They also informed the club that until further notice these eleven players were unable to play for their teams.

The eight Football 11 players were Erick (Juvenil B), Imad and Labinot (Cadete A), Anssumane Fati and Konrad de la Fuente (Cadete B), Ilaix and Haitam Abaida (Infantil A) and Xavi Simons (Infantil B). Right now just the aforementioned Ilaix and Haitam have been granted the permission to play again, but Barça expects that the others will also be able to do so soon.
