Marc-Andre ter Stegen has made a comfortable start to his Barcelona career, but the 22-year-old has had to share the goalkeeping spot with Claudio Bravo.

Luis Enrique has continually rotated his ‘keepers this season, with Bravo playing in the league games and ter Stegen taking the gloves in the Champions League and the Spanish Cup.

In an interview with German magazine 11Freunde, ter Stegen spoke about the ‘keeper situation at Barcelona and here’s what he had to say:

"It's normal for Barcelona to need more than one top-level goalkeeper."

"In no way do I feel like an understudy. I've never seen an understudy feature consistently in the Champions League."

The German international then voiced his frustration at having to split time with Claudio Bravo, but the 23-year-old states that the two of them get on well and that he only wants to beat him out on the pitch and take the starting spot for his own.

"It's not a nice situation, that is no secret. I'd obviously like to play in every match."

"There's no problem between us and we speak regularly. I'd never wish anything bad upon him [Bravo], but I am trying to get the upper hand."
