Robert Fernández: "Dani Alves has decided to leave, it's a personal decision and we accept that."
Robert Fernández talks about the situation of several Barça players and the budget for new signings.
Robert Fernández gave a lenghty press conference in order to discuss possible new signings and which player's will be leaving. You can read the full transcript below.
"We're very satisfied with what the team achieves this season, the titles won and the way in which they were won. There was a moment when we thought the league was won already, but Madrid and Atléti made us fight for it until the last round. The team was at an excellent level all season, except for those three weeks of bad results. The objective is always to win, but the way in which you win is important and we're also proud of the way we've won.
Mascherano will stay at Barça, I have that very clear. We will reach an agreement. He is a vital player for us and I don't have any doubts about whether he will stay.
Dani Alves has decided to leave, it's a personal decision and we accept that. Alves is a much loved played and his behaviour on and off the field has been fantastic. But it is his decision and we have to respect that. Dani Alves will be leaving for free, he renewed in a situation where the club couldn't sign players. The club doesn't always win in negotiations. In order for Dani to be happy with the renewal certain clauses were inserted. I don't like the fact that Alves is leaving, he's an extraordinary player and very loved here, but it's his decision.
Vidal was signed to replace Alves and we have complete confidence in him.
Bellerin? He's a great player, from a football POV born in La Masia, but we're not thinking about buying him.
Neymar will reach a deal with the club and will be here for a long time. The club will inform you. I'd worry if Neymar wasn't happy, but neither him nor anyone close to him have told me anything like that.
Worried that Neymar could go to Madrid one day? No.
I'm not worried about the Bartra issue. It's true that his release clause was lowered. We'll try to not let him go for good. Bartra needs to play, that's obvious, but I do not want to let him go without keeping any link to him in the future. We'll see what Bartra decides, I don't want him to leave and I told him. If he does I want to keep him linked to the club.
No other players have clauses like Alves or Bartra, but these things exist in most clubs, it doesn't weaken us.
I'm not going to say what positions we're going to reinforce, Luis Enrique and I know them, we know what we're going to do.
Adriano has a contract, I didn't receive any call telling me that he will leave, I can't say anything more.
We have players of an extraordinary quality in defense. We don't doubt them, playing in defense for Barça is very difficult.
We tried to sign Nolito in the winter, but couldn't. Right now I can't confirm or deny anything. Talking about players doesn't help.
I have a signings budget, but that can change at a certain point.
I want Douglas to play. If it can't be here we're look for a solution.
We will give the squad chances that we feel are needed, limiting ourselves to the economic possibilities we have. Obviously there are some priorities that we agree on and we're working on that.
We've already told Villarreal that we want to bring Denis Suárez back and I think that on July 1st it will be done.
There will be changes in the B team. The idea is for them to make the promotion play-off places next season.
Bravo and Ter Stegen? We have two great goalkeepers and both of them will stay. During the season I talked with Ter Stegen and with his entourage, we talked about everything and I'm very calm.
We expect a lot from Arda Turan, we're all confident that he will be a decisive player the next season.
Everyone likes Marquinhos, but I haven't talked to him or PSG.
Winning the CL is important and it's our objective for next season, but I wouldn't trade it for our double from this season.
Messi's trial won't make him reconsider anything, he's very happy here.
Sandro? He is leaving and that is my decision."
