Rafinha renews his contract with Barcelona until 2020
Barça and the Brazilian have a reason to celebrate as he continues to work on his recovery
The deal for the new and improved contract of midfielder Rafael Alcántara (Rafinha) was signed today at the club’s offices after a deal was reached a couple of weeks ago. This means the club has secured his future until 30 June 2020. His buyout clause has been set at 75 million euros. He was joined for the signing by the president Josep Maria Bartomeu, the sporting vice-president Jordi Mestre, and the technical secretary, Robert Fernández.
The Brazilian is out of action at the moment as he battles to recover from a cruciate ligament injury sustained in the first Champions League match of the season at AS Roma.
In the statement released by the club, the player says: “I’m very happy. It’s very nice to be enjoying this. Barça is my home. I came here when I was just 13 and I’m very happy to be here.” He also confirmed that he’s recovering quickly from his injury, as well as commenting on the team’s wonderful form of late. “When you bring the best players in the world together with hard work and consistency, these are the results you get” he said.
