Rafinha out for the season
FC Barcelona has confirmed the worst presages about Rafinha’s injury in the last Champions League match against Roma. The tests carried out on the Brazilian midfielder have proved he has torn his right anterior cruciate ligament and he will undergo surgery in the next few days.
Luis Enrique subbed Rafinha in order to refresh the midfield and looking for the win against A.S. Roma. He entered the pitch on the 61st minute and just 56 seconds later, he was tackled harshly by Nainggolan on the very first play he was involved. At the end of the match the coach said that the injury looked “serious, really bad”. This injury is an abrupt halt in Rafinha’s progression since he was performing regularly in Luis Enrique’s starting XI and he will be out of action for the next six months, best case scenario.
This is the second time Radja Nainggolan is involved in an unfortunate play that ends up with a serious injury for the rival. Last March, in a Roma vs. Chievo match, the Belgian midfielder clashed fiercely with Federico Mattiello, causing a double break on the Italian’s tibia and fibula.
