Luis Enrique: 'The expectations are very high this season so we'll need everyone to achieve our goals'

The first matchday of the season brought a superb performance against the Andalusian side and Robert Fernández confirms an initial agreement for Bravo

Barça started off the season trashing 6-2 Real Betis at the Camp Nou, performing at a great level which was a treat to the eyes of the players, technical staff and fans, as Luis Enrique explained on his post-match press conference:

“The players were very motivated, and very active both in attack and defence. We were brave and very effective. A complete game.”

"I congratulate the 300 members of the new supporters’ section, they gave the impression that there were much more. We must strengthen this section as the team will benefit from this atmosphere. It had 300 fans but their voice and support felt like 3000."

The Barça had praising words for Arda Turan and his impressive displays so far this season:

“I'm more than satisfied with Arda. He has a lot of quality and can perform in the two positions, both as an inside midfielder and as a forward. And, on top of that, he scores goals. He is more integrated and happy.”

He also remarked Sergi Roberto's game: "He, down the same flank as always, was very attentive in the defensive aspect of his game, and showed good anticipation. In attack, he was very good, looking for space and creating chances. He will eventually become one of the best fullbacks in the world."

The Asturian coach noted the expected level of demand in a important club like FC Barcelona:

"Throughout the season, the level of demand will be at the maximum, we must all be 100 per cent. The expectations will be very high this season so we'll have to involve everyone to achieve our goals. It's almost impossible to play like this the whole season but we'll try our best."

Luis Enrique highlighted one relevant aspect so far this season and that is the excellent integration of the new signings with the rest of the squad:

“Being in my third year, there are some things that you just cannot explain to the veterans. And the new players have arrived with a lot of enthusiasm. Any player that can improve the squad, which is not easy, the club will be open to the possibility of bringing him in.”

"Umtiti was fantastic. We signed him from Lyon because we knew what he could add to our team. He is very calm and composed on the ball. He's too confident and his positioning is great as well. A fantastic signing for us."

About Messi's stellar match, Luis Enrique said: "Messi was at an extraordinary level, as always. Luis Suarez also, both in attack and defence. When he [Messi] plays like this we can only watch and enjoy."

Initial agreement for the Claudio Bravo's transfer

As stated by previous reports, Robert Fernández confirmed an initial agreement between FC Barcelona and Manchester City for the sale of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo:

"We need to sign a new keeper first. But we already reached an agreement with Man City over the transfer of Bravo. We expect developments this week. We had been looking at extending Bravo’s deal for some time, but an offer arrived that he wanted to strongly consider.”
