FC Barcelona sign the defender Lucas Digne
The 22-year-old Frenchman comes to strengthen the left back position
FC Barcelona have officially signed former Paris Saint-Germain footballer Lucas Digne for the next five seasons. The club has paid an initial amount of 16.5 million euros with another four million depending on individual and team performances. Digne’s buy-out clause has been set at 60 million euros.
The French international first broke into Lille's senior squad in 2011 playing 59 games and scoring two goals in two seasons with Les Dogues. He then was transferred to the Parisian side in 2013 for around 15 million euros where he played 43 games with no goals scored in two campaigns. Digne spent last season on loan at AS Roma, facing Barça in the Champions League group stage and playing more regularly in the Italian squad, for a total of 43 games and scoring three goals.
Lucas Digne will arrive in Barcelona on Thursday morning to undergo the medical tests and to be officially presented by the club. The new Blaugrana full-back is the second French signing of the week, after his fellow countryman Samuel Umtiti, with both taking part on the French U20 team which won the category World Cup in 2013.
