Alex Song's future continues to be unclear

Alex Song is still waiting for his future at FC Barcelona to be resolved. The Cameroonian midfielder, who will be 28 in September, is in Barcelona recovering from a muscle injury at the club's training center. Signed in 2012 from Arsenal for €19 million, Song has another year left on his contract, but Barça doesn’t want him, as was made clear by the fact that he wasn’t even presented with the squad at the Gamper Trophy.

West Ham, where he was on loan last season, wanted to keep him according to reports from a few weeks ago, but it’s unclear if this is still the case, given his current fitness problems.

It is possible that Song's final year at Barça will be similar to the one that Ibrahim Afellay had. The Dutch player went on loan to Olympiacos until his contract ended and then signed for Stoke City. The Catalan club's aim is that Song goes to a club which can pay his full salary this season.
