Marc-Andre ter Stegen (6): Had quite an average game by his usual standards. On the first goal, he couldn’t have done very much if we’re being honest. The defending was awful. On the second goal, he made a good stop but for me was poor on the follow up. His passing however was really good (93% pass completion). In all honesty, he didn’t have to make many saves since Sevilla’s final ball was poor.

Sergi Roberto (5.5): Had a lot to do defensively and he wasn’t always the best 1 vs. 1 but in all fairness to him, the midfield just didn’t work and got easily overrun which meant Barça’s back 4 had too much to do and Sevilla were often in numerical advantage in Barça’s third of the pitch, on the counter. Could’ve done better on Sevilla’s 1st goal. Going forward, he didn’t show the best understanding with Dembélé, got in behind Sevilla’s defence a few times but his final passes and crosses weren’t good.

Gerard Piqué (5): Busy all game, he didn’t have a good game defensively but the midfield didn’t provide any protection at all and Sevilla had it too easy getting into dangerous areas and creating chances. Surprisingly, he found himself.in some solid chances to score but his finishing wasn’t good. Had an amazing goal line clearance in the 2nd half which prevented Sevilla from going 3-0 up and essentially kept Barça in the game but it was a rather poor performance overall.

Samuel Umtiti (5): Like Piqué, was quite poor. They got overrun quite easily and Sevilla got plenty of chances on goal. He could’ve done better on the first goal, there were plenty of errors but he could’ve seen Vasquez lost his marker and closed him down. He won many duels due to us having to defend a lot but still he didn’t have the best of games. Even with this his passing was still of a very high standard. If it wasn’t for Sevilla being bad, we would’ve conceded 5 or so goals.

Jordi Alba (5): Quite ineffective. Coutinho was using him much and for large parts of the game, his final balls were absolutely poor. Defensively he was mixed. For around 50 minutes, he had a lot of trouble dealing with Jesus Navas of all people. When Messi came on, he like the whole team improved and he started playing better in the final third.

Ivan Rakitić (5.5): Started in the Busquets role and it looked like he wasn’t at his best from the very start. Gave the ball away carelessly quite often and didn’t create much. Worked well off the ball at times, but for the most part, his positioning wasn’t the best and Sevilla found it too easy getting in behind him and Paulinho. On the ball, he had a game to forget. Almost scored near the end after solid header in Sevilla’s box, but his shot hit the post.

Paulinho (4): Once again one of the worst players on the pitch, if not the worst. Offered nothing in possession, decision making on the ball was absolutely terrible. Off the ball, he lacks discipline and his positioning was poor. Failed to create anything with his passing. Subbed off at after 77 minutes.

Andres Iniesta (6.5): Had a mixed game, at times he was brilliant but other times he was losing the ball easy and unable to ease the pressure from Sevilla pinning us back. His dribbling was great as we come to expect, he was able to get through their press quite easily at times. He managed to create a couple of chances which were not taken. His influence was a bit limited at times as Coutinho kept getting in his way. He was subbed off with 10 minutes left for Paco.

Philippe Coutinho (5): Had quite a poor game for the most part, he couldn’t influence the game and lost the ball a bit too much. However, he did manage to create 3 chances and managed an assist for Messi’s goal which tied the game. Surprisingly he completed all 5 of his dribbles. More than anyone in the whole game. He was anonymous for too much of the game. I don’t think him and Iniesta work too well with each other but maybe this is a bit premature to say.

Ousmane Dembélé (6): Started in the right and was quite active early on. Looked to take on the Sevilla players and get in behind whenever possible. Still has a long way to go when it comes to decision making and taking care of the ball in possession, but he was one of the few dangerous players early in the 1st half. Started the move for Barça’s best chance if the 1st half, with a great pass to Alba on the left. His influence dropped as the game went on and he got subbed off for Messi after 58 minutes.

Luis Suárez (6.5): Looked quite isolated for majority of the game, he didn’t find himself in too many chances to score. One did come in the 1st half, however. Dembélé and Alba combined started the move but his shot went just wide. Started drifting wide and trying to get on the ball as the game went on but he couldn’t do much. Finally got another chance in the 88th minute and this time he didn’t disappoint, scored to make it 2-1 and helped Barça make the comeback.

Lionel Messi (7): Subbed on for the last 30 minutes of the game after Sevilla went 2-0 up. It seemed like his presence inspired the team and Barça started looking more dangerous going forward. He got dispossessed a few times in the first few minutes on the pitch but he started feeling it near the end. Had a few great passes and Sevilla were often pinned back knowing the danger of him on the ball. What was impressive is the way he worked off the ball and tracked back even though Barça were 2-0 down. Scored to help the team complete the comeback with a brilliant curling shot from just outside the box. There’s no words left to describe just how great he is.

Denis Suárez: Replaced Paulinho with 15 minutes left in the game. He did more in those 15 minutes than Brazilian did in the whole game. He wasn’t afraid to take on the Sevilla players whenever he was on the ball. Had a great cross to find Rakitić in the box, but the ball hit the post. He passed the ball well and tracked back even when Sevilla were 2-0 up after 85 minutes and it looked like the game was done. He showed great attitude and provided the spark Barça needed for this comeback, even after he didn’t make a single appearance in almost 3 months.

Paco Alcácer: Came on with around 9 minutes left. He had little to no influence on the game. Completed 1/3 passes and played on the wing which he’s not too comfortable with.
