The most promising centre-back in Barça’s academy is back on action

Cadet A centre-back, Eric García Martret, returns from an ankle injury

Good news arrives from Barcelona’s academy ranks. Yesterday, the most promising centre-back in Barça’s youth system, Eric García, returned to the football field after having miss the first part of the season due to an ankle injury. The Cadet A (U17) captain squad entered the pitch in the game versus Vilassar, where the Barça team won 3-1 with goals from Pablo Moreno, Jaume Cuéllar and Adria Bernabé.

García Martret tore his left ankle ligaments back in September in a training with the national squad. It was a hard blow for the youngster after having a great season in Barcelona and with hopes set to continue his solid performances in La Masía alongside his defensive partner Josep Jaume Busquets.

During the time recovering from his injury, the squad captain has worked hard close to the club’s physios in order to get back to action as soon as possible. The next step was to train in the sand section which is available at the Ciutat Esportiva to strengthen the muscle legs during the rehabilitation. Little by little, he combined this with trainings on the grass and used his weekends to run up the Montserrat range with the company of his father.

Eric García was ready to return since last week and yesterday he got his chance to wear again the captain’s armband and to represent the Blaugranas colours.
