Messi says he doesn't know if he will go to the Olympic Games
The Argentinian said the decision doesn't rely on him, leaving an open door
Speaking with TyC Sports, Messi revealed that his situation with the Olympic Games in Brazil is very different from what happened eight years ago, when the club wanted to block him going to Pequim and Guardiola decided to let him defend his country, culminating in a Olympic Gold Medal in what would be the first big decision that lead to Barça's first treble season.
"When I was younger I didn't have an obligation to go, and although Barça didn't want me to play, I was allowed to. Now that I'm an adult, the decision is not up to me. The same is happening with Neymar and Brazil, they're working so he can go to Rio de Janeiro."
Gerardo Martino has other ideas and previously said he will call his best squad for the centenary celebration of Copa América in the United States, leaving the Olympic Games to the younger and promising Argentinian players so they can seek a place in the 2018 World Cup two years from now.
