L’Espai Barça is beginning to take shape. The €640-million-Rosell/Bartomeu-board initiative to increase the facilities at the Ciutat Esportiva, construct a new Miniestadi, and a new Palau and remodeling of the Camp Nou, were bolstered this week with the release of graphic concepts for the future Miniestadi.

The new Miniestadi, the home of Barcelona B, is projected to be ready in time for the 2017/18 season.

The plan to increase the size of the club training grounds and relocate the Miniestadi was approved by socios in an April referendum last year.

Phase one launched this week with the beginning of the relocation of the Miniestadi, which will also undergo an increase in size and improvement of facilities.

Plans launched this week to identify the specific architects who will commence with construction in January of 2016, according to a club statement.

The first phases include the construction of stands and terraces in the club’s tennis facility, El Forn.

Construction is expected to continue until 2021, and could possibly last as late as 2025.
