Gerard Piqué and Jordi Alba sent to Barça’s infirmary
The Catalan players couldn’t finish the Champions League match against Manchester City
The sweet thrashing 4-0 against the Citizens has come with a high price in the injuries of two of the back line starters: Gerard Piqué and Jordi Alba. The centre back had to be subbed off before the halftime break after a rough challenge from fellow countryman David Silva and is suffering from right ankle sprain. Whereas the left back has relapsed from a hamstring problem he has been enduring in his left leg and was substituted by Lucas Digne after 10 minutes into the match.
The club has announced that further medical tests will take place on Thursday to evaluate their injuries and determine the time they will be on the sidelines. However, according to Sport journal Piqué will likely be out of action for ten days whilst Alba will need a couple of weeks to recover.
Therefore, it’s possible that both player will miss the next two La Liga matches against Valencia at Mestalla and Granada at the Camp Nou.
