FC Barcelona sign Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen
The 27-year-old goalie will be officially presented by the club on Friday
FC Barcelona have purchased Jasper Cillessen from AFC Ajax for €13 million plus an extra €2 million depending on variables. The Dutch goalkeeper buyout clause will be €60 million.
Cillessen arrived in Barcelona this Thursday morning and after going through the medical tests he signed a five-year contract with the Catalan institution and he will be officially presented to the media and fans on Friday.
The Dutchman, who has won three Eredivisie leagues and one Cup title with the Amsterdam-based club, will be the backup of first-choice goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, after the depature of Claudio Bravo to Manchester City. It's worth noting that Cillessen was Holland's starting keeper under the guidance of former Barcelona boss Louis Van Gaal, during the last World Cup in Brazil where the Clockwork Orange reached the semifinals.
Cillissen published a message on his Twitter accout highlighting his career path and his emotions after joining the Blaugrana discipline:
