FC Barcelona sign André Gomes from Valencia

The agreement between the Portuguese footballer and the club will be made official next week

FC Barcelona and Valencia CF have agreed on the transfer of the Portuguese midfielder André Gomes to the Catalan club. The deal with Gomes will be formalised next week and he will be officially presented as a new Barcelona player by then.

Journalists report that the agreetment will be for the next five seasons and it has cost Barcelona 35 million euros plus another 20 million euros depending on his performance and the team results. The operation could even include the right-back Martín Montoya in order to lower the transfer fee, whether with a complete sell or with a loan.

The 22-year-old footballer becomes the fourth signing for Barça on this summer transfer window after the additions Denis Suárez and French defenders Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne.

Gomes was formed in Benfica's youth academy and made his debut for The Eagles first team in 2012. He was loaned to Valencia in the 2014/15 season and had played 75 games with Los Che since then, scoring eight goals in total.
