Claudio Bravo officially sold to Manchester City
The Chilean goalie will join Pep Guardiola's Cityzens after two very successful campaigns with the culés
One of summer's open secrets is now official: Claudio Bravo is off to Manchester City. FC Barcelona and the British club have agreed the transfer of the Chilean goalkeeper for €18 million plus an extra €2 million in variables.
Bravo will join the Cityzens after two outstanding seasons donning the Blaugrana jersey in which the club has won eight major trophies: two La Liga titles, two Spanish Cups, one Spanish Super Cup, one Champions League, one European Super Cup and one Club World Cup. Including all competitions, he defended Barça's goal a total of 75 matches, conceding 44 goals for a ratio of 0.59 goals per game.
The Chilean published a heartfelt letter after the announcement thanking the club, the staff and the fans:
“Hello to everyone. I wish to express in these lines what is going through my head now that the time has come to say goodbye to such a grand institution as FC Barcelona, whose colors I have been able to proudly defend for two seasons. It's an honor for me to say that I achieved great success during my spell at the club with eight trophies out of 10 official tournaments. These two seasons have coincided with the crowning of two Copa América wearing my national jersey, Chile. It's easy to understand that these are two seasons hard to forget and they always be in my heart."
"But in sports, the paths of all involved parties not always converge and now I take on another one with hope and dreams of success."
"That's why, facing this farewell, I want to thank the way I have been treated by the coaching staff at FC Barcelona, for the moments I have experienced with such great players, for the love of all the club staff and, of course, for the support and affection that the fans have shown to me at all times."
"I can say that you have made me feel at home and Barça will always have a place in my heart."
"Good luck in the future and thank you very much to everybody."
"Visca el Barça i visca Catalunya."
