Barcelona to renew with Nike in a deal worth a billion euros

The club will renew with the shirt manufacturer for ten years, €100m per season

The wait is finally over! According to Albert Llimós of the Catalan outlet Diari Ara, FC Barcelona has agreed to renew their contract with Nike for another ten years for €100m per season, including variables, the biggest in football history surpassing Manchester United's deal with Adidas. After lenghty negotiations, the company from Oregon will continue to be responsible for the Barcelona shirt and it could be announced in two to three weeks.

Nike will continue having their store located at the Camp Nou, the most lucrative in the world for the Oregon company, and having their logo on the most sold football club shirt in the world, exceeding 3 million last season.

The new influx of cash will ensure Neymar and Busquets, the next two players in line to receive a contract renewal, will continue at the club, plus a boost on the transfer market after a troubled January window in which the club couldn't sign Nolito due to financial contraints, you can read more about it here.
