Marc-Andre ter Stegen (7): Exceptional, especially in the first half. He was sweeping every attack of Getafe’s and his passing was very good as well. Was not troubled too much throughout the game in making saves bar 1/2 saves. Second half was quiet for him, he didn’t have to do too much.

Sergi Roberto (6.5): One of the best players in the 1st half. Very active going forward early on, he was running in behind Getafe’s defence and combined well with his teammates at times, but this eventually led to nothing. Crossing could’ve been better, didn’t complete a single cross. As the game went on, his influence dropped. Didn’t have much to do defensively but did well when he was called into action.

Yerry Mina (7): Desperate to prove himself from the 1st minute, strong in the air and dealt with most of the threat easily. He had a clumsy no look pass in the 1st half which could’ve cost the team but luckily for him, Busquets was there to save the day. Other than that, passing was good but sometimes he took too much time to release the ball, hopefully this will improve with some experience. Had a great chance to score in the 2nd half, but his header went just wide. It was perhaps Barça’s best chance of the game.

Lucas Digne (8): Started as CB, actually played well. He wasn’t troubled too much defensively, Getafe didn’t get round to making too many chances. At times in the first half, you could see he was a bit slow with positioning but this is expected in an unfamiliar role. His passing was good as we know of him and along with Mina, they both had really good games with very few errors. It may be jumping the gun but I believe he looked better at CB than he has at LB all season.

Jordi Alba (6.5): Had a decent game. He wasn’t as good as he has been this season but he didn’t play poorly. Had a great chance to at least get a shot on target but he took too hard of a touch and the chance was lost. Coutinho didn’t use him so he’s been a bit quiet going forward. In the second half, he started seeing more of the ball but due to Getafe getting numbers back, it was hard for him to play any good final balls. In general, he played well but Getafe did well to limit his influence.

Sergio Busquets (6.5): Not a bad performance, but it wasn’t one of his best either. Barça looked toothless in possession and he didn’t always have too many options as Coutinho drifted wide and wasn’t positioned close to him and Rakitić. Done well defensively, won most of his duels. Managed a few really solid passes but other than that it wasn’t a game to remember. He didn’t commit too many errors but just like the rest of the team, he looked tired and not at 100% in this game after a tough game last Thursday. Subbed off for Paulinho with 10 minutes left.

Ivan Rakitić (6.5): Passed the ball well but Barça couldn’t break Getafe’s strong defensive unit all game long. Decision making could’ve been better at times, the only great, defence-splitting pass he had all game was the one to Messi in the 1st half, but Getafe’s defence managed to recover just when Messi received the ball. Done well off the ball at times but looked tired later on in the game.

Philippe Coutinho (5): Didn’t have the best of days. He operated as a wide midfielder, a role he is quite familiar with. His passing wasn’t bad at all but he took too long on the ball and when he did have the ball, he always tried forcing the ball to Messi even if it wasn’t the best option. Due to this, a lot of Alba’s overlapping runs were of no use. He was subbed off for Iniesta around 60 mins into the game.

Paco Alcacer (5): Had a rather awful game. Barely saw much of the ball and when he did get it, it was as if he was playing as a RM which made no sense since his skillset isn’t fit for that sort of position. His off the ball movement wasn’t too bad but he was quiet for large periods of the time he was on the pitch. Subbed off for Dembélé.

Lionel Messi (6.5): One of his worst performances of the season. Didn’t look fresh and wasn’t receiving the ball in dangerous areas. He managed to dribble past a couple of players at times but it was too easy for Getafe’s strong defensive unit. Didn’t find himself in chances to score, only had one solid opportunity from the edge of the box, but Guaita did well. Had a couple of solid passes, but other than that it was a quiet performance by his standards. He looks really tired at this point and could use some rest. Luckily, the schedule gets better now and he won’t have to play this many games anymore.

Luis Suárez (5.5): Poor game for him. Looked isolated against Getafe as they sat deep and didn’t allow Barça too many chances. Found himself in offside traps too many times and looked frustrated. His only real chance came late on in the game after Dembélé’s cross, but Guaita pulled one of the best saves of the week. Other than this, there isn’t much to say, a game to forget for the Uruguayan striker.

Andres Iniesta: Replaced Coutinho and made an instant impact. Our attack was looking more fluid and we able to pin Getafe back to their box a lot easier. As usual, he was gliding past their players and created one two chances. It was the right call to rest him since he’s played a lot recently but I’d love to see both him and Coutinho play together more.

Ousmane Dembélé: The Frenchman was passed fit after his long layoff. He replaced Paco and honestly wasn’t too bad given his rustiness. He slipped a few times but did do a lot more than what Paco offered. Late on he could’ve gotten an assist but Guaita made a wonderful save to stop Suárez’s header. It was clear that he’s still going to take time to adapt due to the injuries affecting his play and because he hasn’t played too much.

Paulinho: Subbed on for Busquets with 10 minutes left on the clock. Didn’t do anything worth noting on the ball. Done well off the ball on a couple of occasions but this substitution didn’t really change much.
